A visit from Nan

Life got back into a normal swing after Tropical Cyclone Seroja. Charli had taken up gymnastics, Elly was giving hockey a go (as was I) and we were all involved in the local scout group, including Elly getting invested as a Scout at the local ANZAC day eve vigil.

In May were excited to get a visitor from the east coast. My Mum had managed to get flights while borders were open and came to stay with us for 3 weeks. We used her visit as an opportunity to do some more sightseeing and she got the chance just to hang out and enjoy the beach and the views while we did the day to day life bit. We got to a couple of outdoor movies, visit the gaol craft markets and were able to celebrate Mother's Day with her too.

We of course spent some time on the beach and at the foreshore but we also finally got up the hill to check out the HMAS Sydney Memorial which was really lovely. So much thought was put into its design and the story of the statue of the lady was fascinating. Apparently the statue was put in place before they found the wreck of the Sydney and it turns out that the lady was pointing in the exact direction the whole time - freaky!!!

We also managed a day trip along the coast on the south side of Geraldton visiting Jurien Bay, Cervantes and the Pinnacles. Thankfully it was a cooler day so walking around among the rocks was actually quite pleasant. After spending time among the stones we headed into town to enjoy a lobster lunch at the Lobster Shack. We made short work of it!!

While Dave was home we managed a day trip out to the Walkaway markets and around Dongara/Port Dennison and were most disappointed to find that the distillery there was closed that day. Oh well, we will just have to get back there.

It was great having Mum visit, I know how crazy stressful everything has been on the east coast with all the Covid drama, so we were really lucky she made it over. The only really unfortunate part was that her visit was during term and while I was busy with placement and assignments for my uni studies as well as just picking up some work so we didn't get quite as much time with her while she was here as we would have liked but we definitely tried to fit in as much as we could!
