So exciting. Looks like we are nearly ready to head off again, just waiting for all the little pieces to fall into place. Dave always had some work lined up to do when we eventually got to Kununurra but they contacted him a couple of weeks ago, keen for him to get up north and help with a new contract they acquired. So the wheels are back in motion with the hope that we will qualify for a pass to get over the WA border. I am desperately hoping this all works out as I am now officially unemployed, finishing up work last week so that we had time to self-isolate for 2 weeks before leaving as this is a requirement of heading into a biosecurity zone. Annoyingly our first attempt at getting our pass has been declined and mostly, we believe, because the biosecurity zone is potentially going to be lifted on Friday, changing the information and requirements they need from us. So, now we are sitting tight, packing ready to go and waiting patiently for the official announcement so we can reapply. All things going well we are aiming to hit the road on Sunday, meanwhile we are self-isolating anyway, just in case we need it and in an attempt to avoid self-isolating for another 2 weeks when we arrive.
We have tried to make the most of our time at home where possible. Dave has spent lots of time pottering away in the shed, finishing all the little projects on the van and car that he didn't get to when we left Gembrook. Charli has gotten quite creative with the recycling, adding to her Barbie collection through building an array of cardboard furniture. Elly has been helping Dave in the shed and creating with all his timber scraps. The bonus of everyone being on homeschool was that Dave had some guidelines to work with the girls on but they struggled a bit with the teacher in the family working full time, a situation that has now been rectified. I have been working on some sewing projects, some that have been waiting for completion for a very long time. 2 armchairs have now finally been revamped, Elly and I have matching caravan pyjamas and I have made a few bits and pieces for the van to try and make life a bit easier. We completed a 100 piece Harry Potter jigsaw, good luck Mum it's your turn now. We have, of course, enjoyed TV time. I have introduced the girls to several movies that I used to watch growing up, all of which they have questioned and then loved, while Dave and I have been binge watching older TV series we missed years ago, currently working through Sea Patrol.
The extended family have been great too. We have held 2 Disney sing-a- long nights online, complete with costumes, with relatives from Vic, NSW and Qld involved (crazy that it took a pandemic to realise we could do these things). With restrictions easing just a bit we have been able to spend some time with the family, including some birthday dinners for cousins, and the girls getting a sleepover at their Nan's. The girls were even lucky to enjoy a day in Gembrook, catching up with some of their friends before heading into our isolation.
Hopefully our next update will be from on the road
