The best laid plans

Plans are great, we love working towards a deadline, but it is definitely more complicated when our plans continuously change. We are still aiming for our end of March departure date although we may end up leaving a few days later than planned, it's all the smaller plans in the lead up that keep changing.

We had planned to be moving out of the house from the long weekend but relaxed a bit as we still didn't have a tenant lined up so we figured we would stay in our own space for as long as possible. We then began getting word that we might have a tenant so went back into move out mode, then the next spanner got thrown in. We found out that Dave's dad is unwell and is going to need some treatment in the coming weeks meaning it is not ideal to be moving to their place at the moment. All is well though, we have advised our new tenant they can move in the Friday before we head off and we will stay put longer. This does come with its own challenges as the house is now so packed up that I keep going to make something only to discover I have packed the cooking utensils I require.

On a positive note, we have had some great wins in the last 2 weeks. Elly has now officially completed the requirements for her Grey Wolf Award, she has worked so hard over the last couple of months to complete the badges and can now sit back and relax knowing its done and can hopefully be presented before we leave. Charli and I had an awesome time at Kangaree last weekend. The activity bases we visited were all fantastic and we were joined by an awesome group of Joey Scouts and Leaders from our district. I loved the extra challenge of taking on the district leader role for the event and loved entertaining the kids as I added fun items to my hat over the weekend - fluffy pom poms, Dr Seuss Thing hat (I was Thing 15 to be different) and battery operated fairy lights at night time.

This weekend, the girls and I have popped over to stay with my Mum so we can get some time in with family before we go. The girls have spent Saturday afternoon/night at my sister's place so Mum and I could go to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which I was desperately hoping to see before I left but didn't actually think I'd make it to. It was absolutely amazing and hopefully I will get the opportunity to see it again

Lessons learnt in the last few weeks:

- If you put frozen fruit bread in the microwave for 2 mins it catches on fire

- Pushing myself a bit too far in the last few weeks results in a case of tonsillitis (not Corona Virus) and a few days off work (who would have guessed?)

- Packing with kids is a pain in the bum, every time you go to pack you have to spend time cleaning up first before you can even get to packing

2 weeks to go!!
